Boards shape the organisational culture from the top. The culture is built around key elements such as values, rules, leadership behaviour, and rewards. Therefore, it is helpful to actually measure the ‘Culture of the Board Room’, as it is an important catalyst for the organisation-wide culture. Having worked closely with Dr. Melinda Muth (co-author of the best-selling book Setting the Tone from the Top), we have developed a Board Culture Survey that measures the seven key human elements which shape director and board behaviour.
3. BOARD REVIEW
Our tailored Board Diagnostic is built around a detailed governance survey, which is complemented by insightful face-to-face interviews with Board and Executive team members. The summary report and facilitated board discussion is designed to ensure best practice in terms of:
- Board Performance & Effectiveness (outcome focused), Board Efficiency (process focused), and overarching corporate governance principles;
- Strategic planning and underlying discussions;
- Optimal alignment between Board and Executive Team; and
